Johnson Excelling At Csb

 
Ex-Bulldog Alex Johnson helped propel the College of St. Benedict Blazers to a 63-56 victory over rival Gustavus Wednesday night.
 
Johnson tallied seven points and a career-high 15 rebounds to pace St. Benedict, which had 33 rebounds. 
 
The loss marked just the second home loss of the season for Gustavus, which headed into Wednesday’s game at 6-1 on Gus Young Court and 4-2 in the MIAC. The win pushed Saint Benedict's overall record to 7-7, and its MIAC record to 3-4.
 
Johnson, a 6’2” junior is averaging nearly four points a game and 3+ rebounds. Her best game came in 2017 against Minnesota-Morris where she notched 12 points, two rebounds and one assist. She averages 12.8 minutes a game last year.
 
As a freshman, Johnson started in one of 27 games played and averaged 11.9 minutes per game. She led the team with a .544 field-goal percentage while grabbing 80 rebounds and averaged 3.0 per game. She also had 10 assists and 11 steals and finished second on the team with 29 blocks. She averaged 3.0 points per game and scored 81 total points. 
 
As a sophomore, Alex was named the team's co-Most Improved Player. She  appeared in 26 games including one start and averaged 12.8 minutes per game.
 
Johnson grabbed 58 defensive rebounds and 83 total rebounds. She averaged 3.2 rebounds per game and had 15 assists and 19 blocks. She finished the 2017-18 campaign with 95 points and averaged 3.7 points per game.
