In their own words...

Reactions from the coaches, players and school personnel in response to the Bulldog softball team winning the MN State Class AAA Softball Championship.

“I love how everyone on the team is able to have a good time at softball, but still focus enough to play her best. This team is unique to any other I have ever been on because of the insane team dynamics.” - Senior Kyla Henkemeyer.

“One of the best parts about this year is that I got to put together Captain’s practices and everyone showed up. They are all kind hearted and hardworking girls. I really enjoyed playing with all of my amazing teammates this season.” - Senior Krista Paulson.

“All I can say is thank you. Thank you for everything. You introduced me to the game and only drove me to love it more and more. You’ve given me some of my best, life long friends and I’m so blessed to say that I got to win 10u tournaments and the State tournament alongside the same group of girls. You’ve taught me that hard work pays off and that anything is possible when you fight for it.” - Senior Brooke Hendrickson.

“My favorite part of the season was watching all these girls be resilient and work hard: you could look at us and you would never know that we didn’t get a season last year.” - Senior Levi Roske.

“Our team was unsure of many things this season. We were unsure of being able to play our game due to many injuries, quarantines, and tough coursework. What we made everyone sure of was that we were the best and toughest team in 3A. I still get chills/goosebumps thinking about the games that took place last week.” - Senior Emma Eickhoff.

“I really can’t explain how proud I am of the entire team.  Watching them play three almost perfect games was simply amazing.  Their ability to adapt and overcome injuries and step in and play when needed is something I’ll never forget.” - Asst. Coach Matt O’Neill.

“What a great way to finish off our school year, with a second state championship.  The resiliency, dedication, and determination of our softball team leading to this accomplishment is something our school and community should be extremely proud of.” - Becker Superintendent of Schools, Jeremy Schmidt.

“In a year that was far from ordinary, this team made this week feel like an ordinary time at a softball park with their extraordinary efforts.  Thank you for being a special group of Becker student-athletes.  To the coaches, you have built champions.  These champions have learned perseverance, dedication, camaraderie, teamwork, humility, and composure … and today, most importantly, you have built a state champion.” - BHS Principal Dave Kreft.

“We talked all season about peaking at the right time and that is exactly what this group did.  One of the things that stands out for me the most was the willingness of everyone on the team to accept their role and to be ready when called upon.” - Head Coach Jason Baune.
