Husky girls’ lacrosse loses 3

The Big Lake/Princeton/Spectrum girls’ lacrosse team lost three games last week against Becker, Brainerd, and Blaine.

Vs. Becker

Last Thursday the Huskies traveled to Becker for a game against the Bulldogs. The home team took a 1-0 lead early, but the Huskies answered quickly with a goal from Sloane Griesert assisted by Keren Cortez-Sanchez.

The rest of the first quarter belonged to the Bulldogs as they took a 4-1 lead into the first break.

However, the Huskies tightened up on defense in the second quarter and held Becker to just one goal. Offensively, the team broke through with Kaelyn Besler, Cortez-Sanchez and Ashley Balken scoring.

After the half, Besler tied the game 5-5 off an assist by Griesert, but Becker mounted a surge to bring the final score to 12-8. Besler and Griesert both had hattricks in the game. Emma Greischar added two assists.

Vs. Brainerd

Last Friday the team lost 16-4 at home to Brainerd. The game started off well for the Huskies as they were tied 3-3 after the first quarter. But the rest of the game was dominated by the Warriors.

Griesert scored twice while Besler and Greischar each had one goal.

The game also served as this year’s Senior Night. During halftime the team honored Jordyn Schumacher, Melanie Cano, Linda Goetz, and Beatrice Parapello for their contributions to the program.

Vs. Blaine

On Monday the team lost 21-1 on the road against Blaine. The Bengals jumped out to a 13-1 halftime lead and crusied from there. The Huskies got their lone goal from Besler in the second quarter.
