The Big Lake/Princeton/Spectrum girls’ lacrosse team suffered a pair of defeats last week at the hands of New Prague and Buffalo.
Vs. New Prague
Last Thursday, the team was defeated by New Prague 16-4 at home in Big Lake.
The Trojans jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first quarter and extended their lead in the second to take a 9-1 lead into halftime. After another quarter controlled by the Trojans, the two teams played the fourth quarter to a 2-2 tie.
Sloane Griesert scored two goals to lead the team and Kaelyn Besler and Melanie Cano each scored once. Lillee Stephani-Peterson and Ashley Balken each had an assist. Besler also led the team with five groundballs while Aryana Topel was close behind with four.
Vs. Buffalo
On Saturday the team lost 23-5 to Buffalo at Princeton High School. The game remained close after one quarter with the Bison leading just 4-2. But they took control in the second quarter, outscoring the Huskies 9-1. The team was unable to generate much offense in the second half either, as Buffalo outscored them 10-2 after the break.
Besler led the team with three goals in the game while Griesert and Hvsotte Yahola had one goal each. Balken had the team’s only assist.
Up Next
Next up for the team is a pair of road games to close out the regular season. They will play St. Cloud at Apollo High School on Thursday and at Osseo/Park Center at Osseo High School on Friday. Then, next Tuesday, the team will begin postseason play with the opening round of the Section 8A tournament.
