Hornets start Bass Fishing Teams

Big Lake just recently formed their very own Bass Fishing teams (junior and high school) under the guidance of the Becker Bass Fishing team, who have spent the last five years developing a successful club.

Big Lake’s junior Bass team is geared for second through seventh grade anglers.  They will be focusing on introducing kids to the sport of bass fishing while developing their fishing skills.

The high school team will be focused on developing the skills necessary to compete at local and state fishing tournaments.  The squad consists of eighth - 12th grade anglers.

Four fishing fanatic adults have stepped forward to lead the teams in Noel Krebs, Jason Parks, Kris Knodle and Lawrence Luoma. The coaches plan to focus on recruiting and building their team, and their ultimate goal is to get kids out fishing!

Some topics the coaches plan on covering this year include safety (boating, personal, weather), environment (invasive species), Bass fishing,  equipment and tournaments (preparation and execution ).

The coaching team is always looking for coaches, speakers, guests, boat captains, guides, and teachers!  Good stories are welcome too.

Interested in helping?  One doesn’t need a fancy bass boat or be a pro fisherman. Just spending time with kids on the water is the goal.  They invite anyone interested to attend their meetings, learn, and get better at fishing.  They promise all will have fun and enjoy this experience!
