THE BIG LAKE HORNETS gymnastics team captured the Section 7A title last weekend and will compete at state this week in Minneapolis.

Hornets, Norberg To Compete At State

The Becker girls gymnastics team finished in fifth place at last week’s Section 7A championship in Big Lake. They did, however get one athlete to make the state tournament in Riley Norberg.

Norberg will compete on vault at state after qualifying with a second-place finish at Big Lake.

The Hornets, meanwhile, took home first place in sections and have four gymnasts vying for a state title in Lola Visci (all-around), Megan Swanson (vault), Izzy Breitkreutz (bars, beam and floor) and Britney Krumrel (beam).

The team scores for the Section 7A championship went as follows: 1). Big Lake (146.475), 2). Monticello (141.5), Chisago Lakes (135.85), North Branch (135.5), Becker (133.0), Maple Lake (127.725), Rush City/Pine City/Hinckley (125.3) and Princeton (125.2).
