Big Lake played host on Sunday to St. Cloud Tech, Sartell, and Anoka for a day of girls’ flag football games. However, the home field advantage wasn’t enough as the Hornets lost twice to Sartell and St. Cloud Tech.
Vs. Sartell
In the first game, Big Lake lost 48-13 to Sartell. Both teams struggled with turnovers as the Sabres had four and the Hornets seven.
Shiloh Elliott was the team’s leading receiver with 11 catches for 43 yards. Mya Knapp hauled in three receptions for 34 yards and Kamrynn Tschritter caught four passes for 16 yards. Lauren Barthel caught just two passes but turned both of them into touchdowns for the Hornets.
On the defensive side of the ball, Alayna Boe picked off wo Sabre passes, and Kayleigh Pregler had one interception herself.
Vs. Tech
The second game also saw the Hornets plagued by turnovers as they had five against St. Cloud Tech in a 47-13 loss. Amara Obia threw for 193 yards and two touchdowns in the game. Her top target in this one was Tschritter, who finished with seven catches for 53 yards and a touchdown. Elliott had three catches for 50 yards and a score. Katie Chaffee caught two passes for 45 yards, and Tatum White hauled in two catches for 17 yards.
Defensively, Boe added another interception and Addison Holmen also picked off a Tiger pass.

This Sunday the team will travel to Elk River High School for games against the host Elks and Anoka.
