The Big Lake boys’ basketball team saw their season end on Tuesday night in the Section-5AAA quarterfinals against Monticello, 98-80. The #2-seeded Magic led by 13 at halftime before a much closer second half.
Leading the Hornets in scoring was Owen Wilczek with 25 points. Max Siegrist added 16 of his own, and Lane Pettis and Judd Layton each scored 12. Leroy Hamrin finished with seven and Precieux Sanguma and Trevor Stukenholtz had three each.
Late last week the team wrapped up their regular season with a 96-78 victory over West Lutheran on Thursday and a 75-71 loss on Friday to Legacy Christian.
The team ends the season with a 9-18 record, including a 7-9 record in Mississippi 8 Conference play.
