Hornets battle setbacks to take 2nd at New Prague Invite

The Big Lake dance team took second place last Saturday in both varsity jazz and kick despite dealing with last minute lineup changes due to illness. JV and B-Squad jazz both took first place and JV kick also took second.

At the conclusion of the regular season Head Coach Kayla Olson had this to say about the year so far.

“We are very proud of how we’ve persevered these last few weeks and we could not be more proud of our JV and B-Squad teams,” she said. “JV Jazz had their best season in program history, winning five invites and placing at all eight we attended. JV Jazz achieved our top six highest scores of all time and JV Kick achieved the top three highest scores of all time.”

Olson says she is so excited for her program’s growth and development.

“I am especially thankful to our JV and B-Squad Coaches — Emily Merkley, Madison Wahlberg, and Kiana Boleen-Pierson,” she said. “None of this would be possible without their guidance and leadership.”

Next up is the Class AA Section 4 meet this Saturday at ROCORI starting at 1 p.m. The biggest competition for the Hornets based on season averages will be conference foes Becker, Monticello, and St. Francis.
