Hornets amass 76 points in win over Islanders

In their most recent matchup on August 28, the Big Lake Hornets defeated the host DeLaSalle Islanders in a final score of 76-22. This non-conference game resulted in a decisive victory for Big Lake, setting a new school record for points scored in a single game for the Hornets.

The Hornets scored 24 points in the first quarter, 30 in the second, 16 in the thrid and six in the fourth to complete their outburst.

Big Lake’s record-breaking 76-22 win over DeLaSalle was powered by a dominant rushing attack that amassed 402 yards and seven two-point conversions. While the rushing attack led the way, the Hornets also had a steady passing performance with 97 passing yards. Quarterback Dillon Spaeth completed four-of-four passes for 97 yards and a touchdown.

The Hornets travel to Spectrum to meet the Sting in a non-league match on Fri., Sept. 5. The Sting come into the match with a record of 1-0. Spectrum won 16-12 in their recent non-league match against Fridley.
