Vs. Woodbury
The Big Lake Girls Swim and Dive team showcased an outstanding performance and immense team spirit during their recent home meet Tues., Oct. 21, when they hosted the Math & Science Academy from Woodbury. Big Lake dominated the competition with a decisive score of 106 to 68.
This wasn’t just a win on the scoreboard — it was a successful event marked by numerous personal best times achieved by Big Lake’s dedicated athletes across various events in their final home meet.
Also, the team had the pleasure of being pictured alongside one of their most admired officials, Nathan Overby. Nathan, whose daughter, Sophomore Charlotte Overby, is a valued member of the Hornet team, exemplifies the strong familial ties and passion for swimming within Big Lake’s community.
Overby’s appreciation for the team’s spirit was evident when, following the meet, Nathan personally nominated Big Lake Swim and Dive for a well-deserved community spirit award. This special recognition stems from the team’s exemplary display of friendly competition and their heartwarming initiative to host a dual team ‘buddy swim’ at the conclusion of the meet. This act of sportsmanship and camaraderie truly embodies the positive values Big Lake strives to instill.
