There are new coaches for the Big Lake Swim/Dive team for 2025-26.
Khanya Lemus and Angela Carik have been hired as Co-Head Coaches for the Big Lake High School Swim and Dive team for the upcoming year. Though raw from head coaching experience, they both bring several years of coaching knowledge and backgrounds as swimmers.
“We are really enjoying our coaching journey, and feel incredibly fortunate and proud to be a part of this amazing Big Lake High School Swim and Dive Team,” the coaches jointly said. “It is a privilege to work with such dedicated athletes and to contribute to this wonderful program that embodies excellence, teamwork and school spirit.”
The newcomer coaches are excited to have a sizable team this season with a total of 41 members on their roster. This includes 34 swimmers, five divers, and two dedicated team managers who help keep everything running smoothly.
While they have not yet named their team captains for the season, the coaches are very proud to recognize their outstanding group of seniors in, Emma Conklin, Adelyn Fox, Aimee Lu, Brooklyn May, Kayleigh Pregler, Greta Schwirtz and Maia Wenderski.
“In addition, (we recognize) our two senior team managers, Alexis Gosewisch and Britta Vagle, who play a big role in supporting the team behind the scenes.”
Lemus and Carik say this group of senior leaders has already made a big impact on their program through their dedication, positivity, and example.
“(They) are shaping the culture of our team and leaving a lasting legacy for future athletes to follow and us coaches couldn’t be more proud of each of them.”
The swim/dive team’s schedule this season closely mirrors last years. The athletes are especially looking forward to two key events — the JV Championships and their section meet, both of which offer exciting opportunities for Big Lake’s athletes to not only have fun but also to showcase their growth and spirit.
Other coaches at the pool will be Assistant Coach Kaycee Taubert and Dive Coach Hannah Peterson.
