On Thursday, August 21, 2025, the Big Lake girls’ swim and dive team participated in a multi-school relay event held at VandenBerge Middle School.
The Hornets came in third overall at the Apollo Invitational
Apollo showcased strong performances across multiple events, particularly in the varsity categories, securing several first-place finishes.
Big Lake and Holdingford Huskers also demonstrated competitive strengths, particularly in individual events and relays.
Girls 200 Yard Medley Relay
The varsity event was dominated by Apollo, finishing at 2:00.83, significantly ahead of Big Lake, which clocked in at 2:13.01.
Princeton won the third event in the varsity category with a time of 2:03.50.
Girls 200 Yard Freestyle
The varsity competition saw Apollo’s Taylor Knadel finish first at 2:21.78, with teammate Brooklen Rierson close behind at 2:24.28.
Girls 200 Yard IM
The varsity event also featured strong performances from Apollo’s Madelyn Weekley and Mireya Wolf, finishing at 2:43.50 and 2:54.58.
Girls 50 Yard Freestyle
The varsity event was led by Big Lake’s Emily Edlund at 26.64, followed closely by Apollo’s Lilah Mohs at 26.83.
Girls 1M Diving
The varsity diving event was won by Big Lake’s Kayleigh Pregler with a score of 183.00, while Apollo’s Jozie Doble-Medeck scored 134.75.
Girls 100 Yard Butterfly
In the JV event, Big Lake’s Kyla Wenderski finished first at 1:36.53.
The varsity event was won by Apollo’s Madelyn Weekley at 1:11.56, with teammate Mireya Wolf finishing at 1:19.04.
Girls 100 Yard Freestyle
The Junior Varsity event was led by Huskers’s Alayna Weber at 1:12.48, while Apollo’s Izzy Westling won the varsity event with a time of 53.45.
Girls 500 Yard Freestyle
Apollo’s Taylor Knadel won the varsity event at 6:18.63, with Big Lake’s Abigail Fridgen finishing at 6:24.40.
The second 500-yard event was won by Huskers’s Lynn Arvig at 6:12.94.
Girls 200 Yard Freestyle Relay
In the JV category, Apollo won with a time of 2:27.66.
The varsity event was dominated by Apollo, finishing at 1:49.95, followed by Big Lake at 1:58.32.
Girls 100 Yard Backstroke
Big Lake’s Elise Warnke won the JV event at 1:29.25.
In the varsity category, Apollo’s Lilah Mohs finished first at 1:06.00, with Regan Douvier following at 1:12.22.
Girls 100 Yard Breaststroke
Apollo’s Cicely Honey won the JV event at 1:29.12.
The varsity event was led by Apollo’s Izzy Westling at 1:09.86, with Big Lake’s Emmelia Kortenkamp finishing at 1:23.08.
Girls 400 Yard Freestyle Relay
Big Lake won the varsity event with a time of 4:25.01, while Apollo-finished with a time of 4:14.80, although not officially ranked.
Day Two
Apollo again demonstrated strong performances across multiple events, particularly in the 200 yard freestyle relay and 400 yard freestyle relay.
Big Lake and Princeton also showcased competitive times, particularly in the varsity categories, indicating a strong swimming season ahead.
Girls 200 Yard Medley Relay
In the JV category, Apollo secured first place with a time of 2:58.90, followed closely by Huskers at 3:02.52 and Big Lake at 3:04.06.
In the varsity category, Princeton won with a time of 2:06.50, with Big Lake and Princeton finishing second and third.
Girls 200 Yard Freestyle
In the varsity category, Piper Fridgen from Big Lake won with a time of 2:17.38, closely followed by Emersyn Monroe from Princeton at 2:18.20.
Girls 200 Yard IM
In the varsity category, Cora Zerwas from Princeton won with a time of 2:32.76, with Brooklyn Kuklok from Huskers and Ellie Theis also performing well.
Girls 50 Yard Freestyle
In the varsity category, Emily Edlund from Big Lak achieved first place with a time of 26.78, followed by Chloe Peterson from Princeton at 29.06.
Girls 1M Diving
Kayleigh Pregler from Big Lake led the varsity diving event with a score of 179.60, followed by Katelynn Wothe and Taylor Thompson from Princeton.
Girls 100 Yard Butterfly
In the varsity category, Emily Edlund from Big Lake took first place with a time of 1:06.73, with Charlotte Overby and Chloe Peterson also performing strongly.
Girls 100 Yard Freestyle
In the varsity category, Allyson Strandberg from Princeton achieved first place with a time of 1:01.89, followed closely by Brooklyn Kuklok from Huskers at 1:01.06.
Girls 500 Yard Freestyle
Emersyn Monroe from Princeton won the varsity event with a time of 6:12.62, with Piper Fridgen from Big Lake finishing just behind at 6:13.60.
Girls 200 Yard Freestyle Relay
In the JV category, Princeton won with a time of 2:33.91.
In the varsity category, Big Lake took first place with a time of 1:53.18, followed by Princeton at 1:55.20.
Girls 400 Yard Freestyle Relay
Apollo A won the varsity event with a time of 4:02.57, showcasing strong performances from all team members.
Huskers followed closely with a time of 4:04.66.
Diving Results
