The Big Lake Hornets sports teams had an eventful week. Following is an encapsulated rundown of games, meets, and matches.
Hornet Softball
The Hornet ladies improved to 9-3 with three wins to close out the week after losing two to Becker and North Branch. The girls dropped a close, 5-4 loss to Becker May 11, then followed that with a 3-0 loss to North Branch May 22 in the first game of a doubleheader. However they rebounded by beating North Branch in the nightcap, 6-5, then went on to beat Princeton 14-7 and 12-0 May 24 in another doubleheader.
Next up, they traveled to Zimmerman Tuesday (May 25), then Chisago Lakes Wednesday (May 26) before coming home to host Cambridge-Isanti and Centennial Thursday. They close out the regular season at Willmar May 28
Hornet Baseball
The Hornet boys baseball team’s record improved to 7-8 with three wins and three losses in the last two weeks. The wins came against North Branch (4-3), St. Cloud Tech (11-2) and Cambridge-Isanti (1-0). The losses came against Chisago Lakes (8-4), Sartell-St. Stephens (20-3) and Cambridge-Isanti (8-6).
Next up, the boys were to play a doubleheader against Princeton Thursday to close out the regular season.
Hornet Boys Lacrosse
The boys fell to 1-9 with losses to Monticello (24-0), St. Cloud (14-3), Brainerd (12-7) and Grand Rapids (19-3).
Hornet Girls Lacrosse
The Hornet girls stayed winless with losses to Monticello (16-4), St. Cloud (19-2), Totino Grace (14-3) and Chisago Lakes (17-1).
