The Big Lake Hornets sports teams had an eventful week. Following is an encapsulated rundown of games, meets, and matches.
Hornet Baseball
Big Lake fell to North Branch last Friday, 5-1. The Vikings and Hornets stayed tied at 0-0 until the fifth when Big Lake tallied their only run. In the sixth, North Branch exploded for five runs and held on to improve to 2-0.
Big Lake was coming off an opening game win over St. Francis (4-10) April 15 on the road. Next up, the Hornets took on Monticello Tuesday and Becker Thursday.
Hornet Softball
The Hornet ladies captured their first win of the year last Thursday (April 15) with a 7-1 win over St. Francis to improve to 1-1. Five days earlier they suffered a defeat to Rockford (6-1) in their opening game of 2021.
Next up, they travel to Monticello Tuesday and host Becker Thursday.
Hornet Boys Lacrosse
The boys kick off their 2021 season Tuesday against Chisago Lakes. Friday, they hosted Becker.
Hornet Girls Lacrosse
The Hornet girls dropped their first match of the season by getting drubbed by Chisago Lakes, 25-0. The girls traveled to Becker Thursday.
