Hornet harriers host Quad meet

May 25, the Big Lake Hornet boys track team hosted four teams in a Quad meet. Cambridge-Isanti took home the top honors while Monticello was second, Big Lake third and Becker fourth.

In the 100M, Joe Murphy took third (11.82) and Mason Wendlandt took 17th (13.68).

In the 200M, Reed Bottema captured first place with a time of 24.28. Wendlandt took 12th in 29.01.

In the 400M, Wyatt Windhorst toom fifth in 57.82.

In the 800M, Christian Noble took first (2:05.7), Matt Denzen ninth (2:30.45), Zach Carlson 10th (2:32.20),Jake Dietsch 11th (2:34.60) and  David Guyse took 13th (2:35.95), .

In the 1600M, Denzen took 10th (5:40.14), Guyse 11th (5:53.01), Dietsch 12th (5:59.79), Carlson 16th (6:16.76), Vincent Anderson 17th (6:49.85) and Cody Helriegel 18th (6:58.67).

In the 3200M, Big Lake’s Owen Layton took second in a time of 10:33.09.

In the 300M hurdles, Charlie Madison took third (49.32) and Gauge Hoffman seventh (52.47).

In the 4x100M relay, the foursome of Trent Josewski, Reed Bottema, Joe Murphy and Iverson took first place with a time of 44.89.

In the 4x200M relay, Windhorst, Trevor Maruska, Conner Stukenholtz and Wuoson Nehwah captured fourth in a time of 1:44.95.

In the 4x400M relay, Hoffman, Windhorst, Noble and Spencer Vold took second with a time of 3:50.06.

In the field events, Riley Thompson took sixth in the discus with a throw of 110’8”. He was followed by Zach Dembinski in 11th (93’1”), Austin Eccless 15th (87’7”), Luke Hugo in 13th (91’11”), Eric Peredo in 22nd (76’7”), JC Sanchez 20th (79’6”), Brady Johnson 18th (81’11”), Mike Edlund in 25th (72’4”), Alec Kapsner in 24th (73’11”), Ike Howell 17th (82’), Anderson 26th (68’7”) and Cody Colbert 23rd (74’8”).

In shot put, Hugo took seventh (39’2’”), Howell 12th (32’7.5”), Dembinski 15th (31’9”), Eccless 13th (32’1.25”), Sanchez 19th (30’8”), Riley Thompson 18th (27”8.5”), Edlund 23rd (28’9.75”), Colbert 24th (28’0.25”), Peredo 22nd (29’1.5”), Anderson 30th (25’4.5”), Johnson 28th (27’1.5”) and Alex Kuntz 31st (24’0.5”).

In the high jump,  Carson Kunz took first with a jump of 6’2”. Nehwah was sixth (5’2”) and Josewski eighth (5’0”).

In the triple jump, Iverson took first with a leap of 41’9.5”. He was followed by Thieke in third (39’3”), Windhorst in fourth (38’9.25”), Austin Brethorst in 11th (32’2.5”) and Hoffman in 12th (32’2.25”).

In the long jump, Iverson took first place with a jump of 22’8”. He was followed by Bottema in fourth (20’7.5”), Thieke in fifth (20’3”), Kunz in eighth (19’3.75”), Nehwah in 12th (17’9”), Stukenholtz in 15th (17’6”), Hoffman in 20th (15’7.75”) and Kuntz 25th (11’0”).

In pole vault, Vold captured fifth with a height of 11’0” followed by Noble in seventh (10’0”), Maruska in eighth (9’6”)  and Smith in 10th (8’0”).

“Great job competing in our events,” said Head Coach Bob Blanchard. “Looked like everyone that tried a new event had fun.”

Blanchard said he was also proud of thetop 10 performances and the new school records. 

“Five all-time top 10 performances and one school record and one near school record,” he said. “Now we have final prep for JV and varsity conference.”
