Hornet gymnasts top Chisago Lakes

The Big Lake Hornet girls gymnastics team won their first meet of the year in their second competition, knocking off Chisago Lakes, 139.625 to 127.475.

The Hornet JV squad also won, 128.25 to 111.8.

Vault

Grace Kluk took first place with a score of 9.175. She was followed by Lola Visci in second (9.05), Allie Goracke in third (9.0) and Ava Heinen in fourth (8.825).

Bars

On bars, Visci captured first place with a 9.225 score followed by Kluk in second (8.7), Britney Krumrei (8.025) and Sam Merten (7.9).

Beam

Krumrei took first on beam with a 9.225 score. She was followed by Autumn Grunewald in second (8.925).

Floor

Visci scored an 8.9 to take first place on floor. Kennadie Ell was second with am 8.775 and Amber Grunewald third with an 8.7.

 All Around

Visci won the all-around with a combined score of 35.625.Kluk was second with a score of 34.4.

JV individual results

On vault, Kennadie E. took first with an 8.7 followed by Sam Merten (second, 8.25) and Hannah Horvath third (8.2).

On bars, Ava Eastman tied for first with Autumn G. (7.7) and Kennadie E. took third with a 7.6.

On beam, Ava Heinen captured first (8.3) followed by Katie Goracke, Sam Merten and Hannah Horvath (tied for second, 8.1). 

On floor, Autumn G. took first (8.15) followed by Ava H. in second (8.1) and Katie G. in third (8.0).

Hannah H. captured first in the all-around with a 30.7

Combined Varsity/JV All Around:

Kennadie E. (first, 33.45), Ava H. second (32.325) and Sam M. with a 32.05.

“The girls made a lot of progress since our first meet against Cambridge,” said Co-Coach Lanny Goldsmith. “We improved our varsity team score by more than seven points.” 

Varsity is now 1-1 and JV is 2-0 on the season.
