The Big Lake gymnastics team traveled to St. Francis last Thursday and came home with a season-opening victory. The Hornets won by a score of 133.4000 to 123.5750. 

It was a meet dominated by the visitors as Big Lake took the top spot in four out of five categories. Allie Lu, Britta White, and Calla Morris were the top three scorers in the all-around category. Naomi Huizenga and Sigrid Mattison joined those three to round out the top five in the vault. Leah Uphoff finished second in the bars with White and Morris close behind, and Alaina Holum finishing in fifth. And Liliana Rousu took second place in the beam behind her teammate Lu. 

Brainerd Invite

On Saturday the team traveled north for the Brainerd Holiday Invite. The Hornets took fourth place. Morris and White each had strong days as they finished seventh and 10th, respectively, in the all-around category. 

This week’s only event is a trip to Chisago Lakes on Thursday for another Mississippi 8 Conference meet.
