Hornet flag football team defeats STMA

After losing to the Knights in the season opener the previous week, Big Lake got their revenge by beating St. Michael-Albertville 33-26 on Sunday. The team lost to Anoka in their other matchup.

The connection of Amara Obia to Shiloh Elliott was the team’s driving force on offense in the win. Obia completed 21 passes, with 11 of those being caught by Elliott. The sophomore receiver finished with 80 receiving yards and three touchdowns. She also added 36 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Kamrynn Tschritter also caught a touchdown for the Hornets. Lauren Barthel had five receptions and 33 yards. And Mya Knapp had one reception for 15 yards. On defense, Allie Lu had one interception to lead the team.

In the day’s other game for the Hornets, they were defeated 46-26 by the host Anoka Tornadoes.
