Hornet boys reach new heights in sections

The first day of the Section 7AAA tournament saw the Big Lake boys golf team set two school records. 

The team finished with an overall score of 309, which was the lowest in school history. That score qualified them for the second day of the section tournament, which is the first time Big Lake has qualified for the second day as a team. The Hornets also had five golfers advance to the second day of individual competition as well. 

The first day of competition saw three golfers on the team break 80. Aidan Johnson-75, Trevor Maruska-77, and Trevor Stukenholtz-77 all led the way with strong scores. Not far behind them were Max Siegrist-80, Josiah Sanford-80, and then Henry Knier-94. 

Day Two saw a slight drop in scores for the team. Johnson-80, Maruska-82, Stukenholtz-82, Sanford-88, and Siegrist-101. 

The overall scores and places for the team were as follows: Johnson-155 (8th), Maruska-159 (t-12), Stukenholtz-159 (t-12), Sanford-168 (31st), and Siegrist-181 (37th). 

Overall the team had scores of 309 and 332, that combined score of 641 earned them 4th place in the section.
