Hornet boys drop pair of conference games

The Big Lake boys’ basketball team lost three games this past week, including two against Mississippi 8 opponents. 

Vs. Princeton

Last Friday the Hornets hosted conference foe Princeton and lost 74-69. 

The Tigers led by one at the half and were able to hold on to secure the victory. Big Lake was led by Max Siegrist and Trevor Stukenholtz. Siegrist exploded for 30 points and Stukenholtz was close behind with 21 of his own. 

Community Clash

On Saturday, the team participated in the Breakdown Community Clash at Becker High School by taking on St. Cloud Apollo. The Eagles raced out to an early lead and led by 13 at halftime on their way to an 82-68 win. Siegrist again led the team in scoring with 19 followed by Lane Pettis with 17 and Leroy Hamrin with 14. Judd Layton added eight points and Dylan Kunz had seven. 

Vs. Thunder

On Tuesday, Big Lake traveled to Zimmerman where they lost 74-69 to the Thunder. 

Up Next

This week the Hornets will travel to St. Francis on Thursday and then return home next Tuesday to take on Monticello.
