On Tuesday the Big Lake boys’ basketball team picked up a Mississippi 8 Conference win on the road against North Branch, 81-56. After leading by five at halftime, the Hornets dominated the second half 42-22 to secure the win.
The team had four players score in double figures, led by Lane Pettis with 26 points. Max Siegrist had 17, Leroy Hamrin 12, and Judd Layton 10.
Vs. C-I
Last Thursday the Hornets lost 89-71 at Cambridge-Isanti. The team fell behind early and was unable to mount a comeback later in the game. Siegrist led the team with 17 points followed by Layton with 16 and William Newland with 15.
The win over North Branch brought the team’s conference record to 4-4 which puts them in fifth place. The Hornets trail Monticello, Zimmerman, Becker, and Cambridge-Isanti.

This coming week Big Lake will take on Princeton on Friday at home and then travel to St. Cloud Apollo on Saturday. Then next Tuesday, they will head to Zimmerman.
