Here’s to Fall Sports!

Fall has officially hit and that means its football, hockey, and basketball season. This is obviously my favorite time of the year since it’s hockey time, my favorite sport no doubt. I also added another reason to this list and that is, I got married on the first of October! The timing was great for all the colors to be beautiful and everything went perfect! My husband actually surprised me with a gift while we were taking pictures, it’s a signed Kirill Kaprizov jersey! I couldn’t believe it and am still ecstatic!

Back to sports, clearly the Wild made news with Kaprizov signing and their season just getting underway. But who I really want to discuss a little bit is the Minnesota Vikings, who are having a rough start to their season, as of Tuesday evening they were 2-3, just coming off a close win over the Detroit Lions.

In my list of favorite sports, football probably ranks second. I don’t watch a lot of it but when I start watching I usually end up staying until the end. I would have to say my favorite team is of course the hometown Vikings. A few years back when I was really into football, my second favorite team was the New York Giants because of Eli Manning.

My team is now just the Vikings and from what I’ve heard, things are pretty rough for them this season, but it’s just getting started. They still have 12 games left and are nearly at .500 for a record. Yes, that’s not great but things could be worse, they could be 0-5. At least they have a couple wins under their belt and they just need to find the momentum to build off of them.

I’m not familiar with a lot of the names on their roster but I am a fan of both Adam Thielen and Dalvin Cook. Obviously, I’ve heard a lot about these players because they’re some of the best the Vikings have. Back when Randy Moss, Chris Carter, Jared Allen, and Chad Greenway played, I knew most of the names on the roster but of course times change.

The one thing that doesn’t seem to change is the Vikings fanbase. Some can be quite cynical sometimes but they are for sure one thing; loyal. They may not be happy with their team but they’ll never give up on them. My parents are prime examples, especially my mom. No matter how many times she’ll complain about her team or be disappointed at an outcome, she’s the first one to cheer when something goes right and would never give up on them.

Growing up, she’d be the one turning the tv on the football game and demanding no one change the channel, even if there was Wild hockey on at the same time, this led to some arguments when I was in high school. However, it’s also where I got my team loyalty from. No matter how many upsets my teams have, I’ll never not cheer for them, the Wild included.

On another hockey sidenote, the National Hockey League’s 32nd team started play this week that team being the Seattle Kraken.

I have to say I’m a fan, they’re a good, dynamic team that just needs to work out the bugs but in their first game they gave the Vegas Golden Knights a run for their money. The Kraken came back from a 3-0 deficit to tie it, but went on to lose, 4-3. Not a bad outcome for their first regular season gameheck them out!

Here’s to fall weather and fall/winter sports. Can’t wait for some bonfires, chilly weather, and everything fall!
