The Becker Bulldogs gymnastics team took on the Big Lake Hornets Jan. 25 at the True Team Tournament at Big Lake High School.
The Bulldogs pulled off a fourth place win overall with a final score of 172.150.
First place went to Detroit Lakes with a score of 177.725. The Bulldogs were ranked sixth going in so it was a huge honor for them to finish fourth by the end of the night.
The best score for the Bulldogs was 45.225 on the floor event, which was the second-highest team score in this particular category. The Bulldogs also placed third in both beam and bars which was a great accomplishment for the team.
For individual achievements, Karli Kirk placed fourth in the all-around with a final score of 36.750 which is her career high score. Kirk earned first place in beam (9.275), third place in floor (9.4), and fifth place in vault (9.475).
Maggie Graning placed seventh in the all-around with a score of 35.95. Graning’s floor performance really impressed the judges who placed her in second with a score of 9.45.
Alyse Denne placed 14th in the all-around with a score of 35.350. Denne also did very well on floor with a score of 9.125. Strong routines were also shown from Chloe Spear and Bella Kuschel.
There are two conference meets left for the Bulldogs. They hope to keep up their momentum and fine tune their routines.
“These meets will serve as valuable preparation for the upcoming section tournament, where the team hopes to peak and achieve even greater successes,” said coach Jen Harmoning.
