Girls Win 19th In A Row, Improve To 23 2

 

The Becker girls basketball team continued their roll towards the playoffs with two big wins against North Branch and Monticello this week.

Becker 91, North Branch 17

In one of the biggest mis-matches of the year, the Lady Bulldogs hosted the North Branch Vikings last Friday and won by 80.

As usual, the girls got off to a fast start and their relentless sharing of the ball and defending every in-bound pass, meant the Bulldogs would post their 22nd win of the year easily.

North Branch’s Katherine Carlson accounted for 12 of the team’s 17 points as Becker pounced on the weaker rival and never let up.

Adeline Kent was the top scorer as she tallied 19 points, had three rebounds, one assist and nine steals. Three other Bulldogs scored in double-digits including, Julia Bengtson (16), Megan Gamble (13) and Courtney Nuest (12). Bengtson also finished with seven assists, five rebounds and four steals.

North Branch scoring: Carlson 12, Chloe Lattimore 2, Megan Bunes 2, Maddie Helin 1.

Becker 82, Monticello 65

Tuesday, Becker hosted the Magic from Monticello and won the game by 17.

Kent (23) and Bengtson (22) did their usual on the court and got help from Courtney Nuest (13) and Westin (12) in the win. Monticello’s Anna Olson nearly scored half of her team’s points as she notched 30 points in the loss.

Becker was 29-of-64 from the field and 16-of-20 from the free throw line. They pulled down 31 rebounds and had 21 assists and 22 steals.

Becker scoring: Kent 23, Bengtson 22, C. Nuest 13, Westin 12, Gamble 4, Yoerg 4, Lindquist 2, Mackedanz 2.

Monticello scoring: Olson 30, Morgynn Spears 13, Olivia Hanson 6, Katelyn Lindberg 6, Alayna Manning 5, Madison Katzenberger 2, Cat Terres 2.
