The Becker Lady Bulldogs continued their remarkable season by thrashing the St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders Tuesday night at home.

In Becker’s previous meeting with St. Cloud, they eked out a close win on the road by a score of 86-83. Tuesday, they jumped out to a commanding lead and coasted to their 11th win of the year, 75-51.

Becker’s Julia Bengtson scored 23 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out eight assists to lead the team.  She also played great defense on Meg Januschka, a standout player from Cathedral.

Adeline Kent scored 17 points to go with three rebounds, three steals, and four assists.  Courtney Nuest stuffed the stat sheet as well, contributing 12 points, four rebounds, two assists and seven steals.

“Great defense Courtney,” said Head Coach Dan Baird.  “Both Adeline and Courtney had an efficiency rating of 15, where anything above 10 is good.  Nice job girls.”

For the Crusaders, Januschka led them in scoring with 12 points.

Becker shot a season high 87% from the foul line and forced a season high 39 turnovers on Cathedral.

“We played an excellent defensive game,” said Baird.  “Our ball movement against their zone was incredible.  We played very unselfish and our flow was excellent on offense.”

Baird said his team’s first half may have been their best half of the season to date.

“Having a 30+ point lead at times in this game was amazing as Cathedral is a good team.  Way to go girls!”

The win moves Becker to 11-2 on the season and 4-0 in the Granite Ridge Conference.
