Girls track team finishes 2nd

The Becker girls track team  competed at Princeton last Tuesday and finished second in a four-team field.

“It was a beautiful day for the meet at Princeton.” said Becker Head Coach Trish Kealy. “Princeton always does a great job of conducting their meets.”

The Bulldogs had some very good performances at this meet, starting with the 4x800 relay team (Kayla Gruenes, Alea Briggs, Brooklyn Karel, Lexi Rose) winning their race in a season best time of 10:44.07.

Cassidy Pleoger won the 100 with a season best time of 13.22, and fourth in the 200 (29.35).

Becker’s 100 meter hurdlers placed third (Sarah Woelfel SB 18.17) fourth (Regan Hausmann 18.62) and fifth (Lauren Woelfel PR 18.82)

In the 300 hurdles, Hausmann placed third (54.01) and Sarah Woelfel fourth (57.12)

Lexi Rose won the 1600 (5:55.64) and Kayla Gruenes placed third (6:11.87 SB)

The 4x100 relay team of Jessica Gruenes, Paige Maunu, Sarah Woelfel and Pleoger took second with their season best time of 54.53

In the 400 meters, Alea Briggs placed second with her PR time of 67.44 and Kylee Morton placed third in 72.32

Becker took second and third in the 800 with Katelyn Brower running 2:52.41 and Whitney Schug running 2:54.77.

Brooklyn Karel placed fourth in the 3200 with a time of 13:05.73

Becker’s 4x400 relay team of Jessica Gruenes, Hausmann, Brooklyn Karel and Lexi Rose ran a season best time of 3:47.22 for second place.

In the high jump, Sarah Woelfel was fourth, jumping 4’ 6.

Jessica Gruenes was third jumping 7’6 and Tessa Maruska fifth also jumping 7’6

Evelyn Kreft won the discus with a throw of 94’6”  and took second in the shot put with 29’ 8.5.

Grace Schendel was fourth in discus (72’6) and Anna Briggs fifth (71 ‘9).

Anna briggs wook fourth in the shot put (28’3).

Team scores were: Cambridge Isanti , 132.5;     Becker, 80.5; Big Lake,  58, Princeton, 1.

The girls’ next meet is Tuesday, May 18t at Princeton.
