The Becker Bulldog girls track & field team participated in a four team meet held at Pierz last Friday. A wet, cooler day saw the rain let up part way through the meet and the athletes were able to finish before it resumed.
Becker earned five first place finishes with Evelyn Kreft leading the way. Evelyn won both the shot (28’9”) and discus (92’6”). Her effort in the discus puts her in sixth place on an all time Honor Roll in that event.
Also taking top honors were Cassidy Pleoger again winning the 100 (13.78), Meghan Swanson winning the 1600 with a PR (5:56.24) and Lauren Woelfel again placing first in the pole vault (7’6”).
Regan Hausmann was second in the 300 hurdles (55.67) and fifth in the 100 hurdles (18.95).
Olivia Babler ran the 3200 meters and placed second with a time of 13:51.89.
Taking third was Alea Briggs in the 800 meters (2:50.90) and Katelyn Brower was fourth in the 400 with a PR time of 70.47.
Also taking fourth was Paige Maunu in the long jump (14’ 1”) and Sarah Woelfel in the high jump (4’6”).
Brooklyn Karel placed fifth in the 1600 with a PR of 6:16.92.
Grace Schendel captured fifth in the discus (72’10”) and Naiya Hanson fifth in the 3200 (14:51.09).
Becker’s 4x800 relay team of Meghan Swanson, Kayla Gruenes, Brooklyn Karel and Katelyn Brower ran a season best time of 10:51.71 for second place.
The 4x100 relay team of Paige Maunu, Lauren Woelfel, Sarah Woelfel and Cassidy Pleoger placed second in a time of 56.71.
The final race was the 4x400 relay team of Kayla Gruenes, Katelyn, Brooklyn Karel and Regan Hausmann taking second in a season best time of 4:38.50.
“Overall, some fine efforts by our team and improvements all around,” said Head Coach Trish Kealy.
Becker’s next meet is Tuesday in Big Lake and then Thursday they return to Pierz.
