Girls Tennis Team In Prime Condition Heading Into Sections

The Bulldog girls tennis team traveled to Foley last Saturday to play in a GRC meet with seven area teams.
 
Anna Ritchie went 1-1 at #1 singles, Courtney Nuest went 3-0 at #2 singles, Julia Bengtson went 2-1 at #3 singles and Maddie Moe went 1-1 at #4 singles.
In doubles, the duo of Hannah Bengtson and Megan Nelson went 2-1 at #1 doubles. Alayna Lindquist and Jackie Yoerg went 3-0 at #2 doubles and Jazlyn Toedter and Ally Kangas captured third place at #3 doubles.

No. 1 — Ritchie (BB), defeated Becky Langer (Pierz), 6-2, 4-6, 10-7; No. 1 — Peyton Kopel (Foley), defeated Ritchie (BB), 7-6 (4), 6-1. 
No. 2 — Nuest (BB) defeated Brianna Marshik (Little Falls) 6-0, 6-0; No. 2 — Nuest (BB) defeated Val Gall (Pierz), 6-0, 7-5; No. 2 — Nuest (BB) defeated Kylee Frisbie (Foley) 6-3, 6-2. 
No. 3 — Elizabeth Cahill (Pine City) defeated Bengtson (BB), 6-2, 6-4; No. 3 — Bengtson (BB) defeated Brooke Beier (Foley) 1-6, 6-3, 10-5; No. 3 — Bengtson (BB) defeated Grace Janzen (Aitkin) 6-2, 6-0. 
No. 4 — Moe (BB) defeated Emmie Otto (Mora) 6-3, 6-2; No. 4 — Jayden Kloss (Foley) defeated Moe (BB) 6-4, 6-2.

No. 1 — Hannah Bengtson-Megan Nelson (BB) defeated Jessica Shaver-Brooke Hansen (Aitkin) 6-0, 6-1; No. 1 — Bengtson-Nelson (BB) defeated Emily Carpenter-Madisen Berglund (Pine City) 6-3, 6-3; No. 1 — Kate Corrigan-Maggie Kipka (Foley) defeated Bengtson-Nelson (BB) 2-6, 6-0, 10-8. 
No. 2 — Alayna Lindquist-Jackie Yoerg (BB) defeated Ashlyn Berg-Abby Monse (Aitkin) 6-0, 6-1; No. 2 — Lindquist-Yoerg (BB) defeated Lindsay Miller-Kaitlyn Miller (Pine City) 6-4, 7-5; No. 2 — Lindquist-Yoerg (BB) defeated Kalyn Girtzmacher-Katelyn Smude (PIerz) 6-3, 6-1.
No. 3 doubles of Jazlyn Toedter and Ally Kangas lost to Foley then lost again in the consolation round to garner third place.
 
Becker 5, STMA 2
 
Monday, Becker hosted St. Michael-Albertville and came away with a three point win.
 
The Lady Bulldogs got wins from Courtney Nuest and Maddie Moe in singles and swept the doubles matches with Alayna Lindquist/Megan Nelson, Ally Kangas/Jackie Yoerg and Julia Bengtson/Jazlyn Toedter taking home wins.

No. 1 — Emma Thole (STMA) defeated Hannah Bengtson (BB) 6-2, 6-1; No. 2 — Brooke Beck (STMA) defeated Anna Ritchie (BB) 7-6 (5), 6-2; No. 3 — Nuest (BB) defeated Meadow LaDuke (STMA) 6-1, 6-2; No. 4 — Moe (BB) defeated Ellie Brewer (STMA) 6-4, 6-3. 
 
Doubles
 
No. 1 — Lindquist-Nelson (BB) defeated Bella Nardini-Gabby Olsen (STMA) 6-2, 6-2; No. 2 — Kangas-Yoerg (BB) defeated Isabel Berning-Olivia Flaten (STMA) 7-5, 6-2; No. 3 — Bengtson-Toedter (BB) defeated Colette Sinclair-Maddy Postuma (STMA) 6-1, 6-3.

The #3-south seeded Bulldogs began the first round of the Section 8AA team playoffs Thursday against #6-south seeded Apollo at Sartell. The winner will play the winner of the #2S St. Cloud Tech vs. #7S Sartell-St. Stephens match. Foley is the south #1 seed while Brainerd is the north #1 seed.
