Becker 18, Mound Westonka (MWT) 12
Thursday, the Becker girls’ lacrosse team played against Mound Westonka. They finished the regular season with a high scoring game. But the score see- sawed for the 14 minutes. When the score was 5 Becker to 3 MWT, MWT got a 3 goal rally and with just over 5 minutes left in the half MWT took the lead—making the score: Becker 5 MWT 6. Then, Becker went on a 7 goal shooting spree, finishing this half with 12 to 6.
“To score 7 goals in 5 minutes was a total team effort, the girls were playing their best lacrosse of the season,” said Coach Hovde.
During the second half, the teams played pretty much even up. Both teams scored an additional 6 goals. Becker got into foul trouble with 4 yellow cards which meant they had to play a person short for the last 6 minutes. Yet, the girls rose to the challenge and kept their lead.
Sydney Bordson (11th) stated, "I felt we moved the ball down the field as a team this game. Overall we played better as a team than we have in some other games.”
Scoring for Becker was as follows: Reilly Cencer 2, Allie Zimmer 2, Sydney Bordson 1, Macy Eigen 3, Rachel Eisenreich 3, Bria Amundson 2, and Kinsley Hurt 5.
Orono 14, Becker 2
On Tuesday, Becker came out and was pretty passive the first half. The first possession saw Becker in Orono's end for the first three minutes. A Becker dropped pass was picked up by Orono and they used that opportunity to start their scoring spree. Orono scored 10 unanswered goals in the first half. During the second half, Becker stepped up their game and tightened up their defense. At about the 2 minutes into the second half, defense player Bryanna Edling got the ball midfield and scored with a nice shot over the goalie's shoulder.
Becker's offense also went to work with 11 shots on goal compared to 6 in the first half. But, the Bulldogs dug a hole for themselves that was too deep to climb and were ultimately defeated.
The scoring for Becker was as follows: Bryanna Edling 1 and Rachel Eisenreich 1.
Becker 2, Brainerd 0
Last Saturday, the Becker girls played against Brainerd. This was an incredible match and the girls have their score to prove it.
