In the Becker girls lacrosse team’s first match of the year at home Thursday evening, the Bulldogs pulled out a close victory on a cold, damp field over Buffalo, 11-7.
Mckenzie Opgenorth led the Lady Bulldogs with four goals on four shots. Megan Murphy score three times, Brandy Watercott twice and Chloe Madsen and Katie Pursley each had one.
Goalie Kelsi Halvorson stopped six of 13 shots to garner the win. Maggie Smith had two assists and Watercott and Madsen had one each.
Becker had 21 shots on goal compared to just 13 for Buffalo. Taking the shots were Opgenorth (4), Murphy (4), Watercott (4), Madsen (3), Brookelyn Beutz (2), Pursely (2), Kate Berning (1) and Courtney Fobbe (1).
Friday, the girls traveled to Monticello to take on the Magic (full report on match in next week’s Citizen), Tuesday they play at Mound-Westonka and Thursday at Delano.
