Two scheduled games were cancelled this week due to the school closings. The girls did play a game late last Friday and won to improve to 16-2.
Bulldogs 91, Thunder 60
The Lady Bulldogs destroyed the Zimmerman Thunder by 31 points last Friday night in Becker.
Becker got even balanced scoring in this contest. Three athletes (Dani Nuest, Julia Bengtson and Adeline Kent) each scored 18 points in a game where Becker played very well.
Bengtson had 10 assists to go with her 18 points and played great defense on 2,000 point scorer, Alyssa Daugherty.
“Jules just made Alyssa take incredibly tough shots the entire game,” said Becker Head Coach Dan Baird. “Jules has improved offensively this season a lot, but her dramatic improvement has been on the defensive end where she has shut down D-1 and D-2 guards all season.”
Baird says sometimes that tough defense drains one’s energy at the offensive end, but not Bengtson, who continues to be a leading scorer night-in and night-out for Baird’s girls.
Eighth grader, Dani Nuest, had three steals to go with her 18 points.
“Dani is very talented offensively, and should never hesitate to score,” says Baird.
Kent continued to light up the scoreboard as a freshman, contributing 18 and three rebounds.
“Addy really runs those lanes on the fast break and her athleticism is hard to stop,” said Baird. “Her patented shot is her runner, and it has become a consistent weapon.”
Courtney Nuest — Dani’s older sister — added 12 points, three assists, and seven steals. Alayna Lindquist stuffed the stat sheet, adding eight points, six rebounds, five assists and committed zero turnovers.
“Alayna plays great defense and has a high assist- to-turnover ratio making it tough to take her out of the game. She just doesn't make many mistakes,” Baird said.
Becker forced 36 turnovers in this contest and only committed 14. Becker shot 12-21 (57%) from the three-point line.
“These were our two team stats that led to this victory,” said Becker’s head coach.
The Bulldogs moved to 16-2 on the season and 8-0 in the Granite Ridge Conference. Zimmerman fell to 5-12 overall, and 4-4 in the GRC.

Becker next plays against Mora Monday at home for Parent's Night.
“Come out and support the Lady Bulldogs and thank the Parents for being positive influences in their children's lives,” said Baird.
