Girls golf scouts section course

Last Friday, the Becker girls golf team was able to scout the course they will play for sections, as they traveled to Cold Spring to play the Rich Springs Golf Course.

“This was our section preview and we had a beautiful day for weather,” coach Anna Babler said.  “Alexa (Voller) did a great job as our lead golfer.”

The Sophomore shot an 89 to pace the Bulldogs, while Layla Mathews was right behind with a score of 94.  Rounding out the Bulldogs’ scores were Avery Johnson (99), Emma Benson (101), Nora Pilarski (106) and Hannah Hyttsten (113).

The Bulldogs came in with a seventh place overall finish, firing 383 total strokes, while the Alexandria Cardinals again proved to be the top team with a very good score of 316.  Brainerd was next with a 339, followed by third place Detroit Lakes with a 355.

Last Thursday, the Bulldogs were victimized by the weather once again, as there match at the St. Cloud Country Club was postponed.

“We were able to get in four or five holes before we were forced to seek shelter due to rain and hail,” Babler added.

Becker was slated to play in North Branch Wednesday afternoon this week, followed by a Friday match in Princeton.

“I am hoping both of our meets this week will happen,” Babler said Tuesday afternoon. “As of Tuesday, the Princeton course was closed due to flooding.”

This coming week, the Bulldogs will wrap up their conference schedule with a match at Purple Hawk in Cambridge.
