The Becker Cross Country teams held their annual awards pot-luck night Tuesday by celebrating the outstanding season just completed and sharing memories while handing out awards.
Academic awards for the Becker girls team included the Minnesota State High School coaches GOLD award for academic excellence.
All conference academic is earned by athletes in grades 10-12 who lettered on varsity and have a cumulative GPA of 3.75 . These went to Alli Hendrickson, Victoria Kolbinger, Kayden Westin and Lexi Dehmer.
All state academic goes to those athletes with a 3.75 GPA and who finish in the top 15 of the section meet. This award went to Alli Hendrickson. The Scholar Athlete was awarded to Alli Hendrickson and Victoria Kolbinger.
Letterwinners for the season were Seniors: Haley Benda, Alli Hendrickson,Jessica Sand, Ellie Schwartz, Renee Tripp, Kayden Westin; Juniors: Alli Garding, Victoria Kolbinger; Sophomore Lexi Dehmer; Freshmen: Megan Gregory, Jaden Kraus, Maddie McDonald, Abby Nelson; eigth grader Addy Kent; and seventh grader Dani Nuest.
The most valuable runner award was given to senior Alli Hendrickson, who also was awarded most dedicated award.
Most improved award went to Addy Kent and rookie award went to Dani Nuest.
Bulldog award was presented to Victoria Kolbinger and Lexi Dehmer Maddie McDonald was awarded the tenacity award.
The meet results from the season were as follows: Princeton Invitational first (7 teams), Monticello second (10 teams), Little Falls first (20 teams), Griak first (48 teams), Fergus Falls first (18 teams), Becker second (11 teams), Alexandria third (17 teams), Albany second ( five teams) Granite Ridge Conference Meet first (eight teams), Section 8AA second (15 teams +1 inc).
“We ran a challenging schedule against many state ranked teams and were quite successful and competitive in all of them. Our Granite Ridge conference championship win was the fourth in a row for our girls and they won handily with Alli Hendrickson repeating as the individual conference champion.” states Coach Kealy.
Becker placed five girls on the ll conference team: Alli Hendrickson, Lexi Dehmer, Victoria Kolbinger, Addy Kent and Dani Nuest. Also running well at conference was Abby Nelson, Megan Gregory and Jaden Kraus.
The Becker girls JV team placed second at the conference meet and were led by Alli Garding and Kaylyn Wiehle.
Senior Alli Hendrickson ran in her second MSHSL State Meet at St. Olaf and improved her time on a tough course.
The girls listed their favorite meets as Fergus Falls, Alexandria and Little Falls.
Some favorite memories involved the pancake breakfast, Warner Lake bagel day, bowling, camp and many more.
