With the Minnesota State Fair getting underway next week and school soon thereafter, the once dormant school fields, courts and gyms are getting busy very fast.
The Becker High School fall sports teams have begun rehearsing for the upcoming season by putting on the pads, lacing up their shoes, practicing laps and hitting balls in the gym.
The weather has been ideal for the outdoors teams as temperatures remain in the comfortable range with little or no humidity and clear skies.
Inside, the volleyball teams are running through drills, working on conditioning and vying for starting roles. The swim and dive team is spending much of their time getting used to their brand new facility where they’ll be able to finally host their first home mathes in several years.
Outside, the girls tennis team will have a new coach (Nate Bucher) and they’ll enjoy their first year on their new tennis courts. The boys soccer team has been playing simulated games and working on stamina while the girls team is doing much of the same under their new Head Coach, Gretchen Changamire.
Trish Reimer-Kealy is diligently forming her boys and girls cross country teams and hopes to have her runners ready for their first invitational Aug. 25.
The football team has been just as diligent in preparing for their upcoming season that is set to start on the road Aug. 29 at Minnetonka.
