The Eagles hockey team dropped games to St. Paul Highland Park and to Breckenridge-Wahpeton over the weekend; both games played at the Princeton Ice Arena.
Highland Park beat the Eagles by 6-2. jumping out to a 2-0 lead after a period. B-BL rebounded with a score a minute into the second period on a goal by Trent Ruper, assisted by Jacob Boe and Jestin Toulouse.
But the Eagles No. 1 nemises - penalties - became part of the game and they led to three consequtive power play scores by the opposition.
Sophomore Jack Beckstrom, assisted by Boe and Rupar, counted for B-BL’s final goal. Goaltender Alec Anderson had 27 saves.
The Blades of Breckenridge-Wahpeton beat B-BL by a 4-2 score Saturday, scoring single goals in the first two periods.
The Eagles got their two goals on a shot from Tyler Schmitt, assisted from Jacob Bahe, and Luke Ruppelius, assisted by Jaden Keo.
The Eagles had 23 shots on goal; the Blades, 32.
The Eagles JV team had good success against Highland Park and Breckenridge-Wahpeton, winning their games, 4-3 and 2-0.
They were tied with the Highlanders 1-1 after a period, courtesy of a goal from Sophomore Eric Baker and assists from Dyland Pishney and Luke Bordson.
B-BL got the lead after two periods, 3-2 on goals by Baker and a shorthanded goal to Noah Peterson, assisted from Luke Bordson. The Eagles got their game-winner in the third on a goal by Schmitt, assisted by Tobako and Bordson.
Goalie Mitchell Reasoner earned the shutout and Sophomore Jacob Dietsch and Senior Cpt. Luke Mehelich scored the decisive goals in their 2-0 win over the Blades JV.
