The Becker-Big Lake Eagles Pee Wee B1 team won the championship at the Tyler Brady Memorial Pee Wee B Hockey Tournament in Austin, MN Jan. 25-27.
B-BL defeated the Cedar Rapids (IA) Jr. Roughriders 6-4 in their first game of the tournament.
In their second game, the offense came alive and they defeated the Austin Packers 14-2.
In the championship game B-BL squared off against the Minneapolis Storm. Minneapolis Storm jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period.
B-BL battled back and scored three unanswered goals in the second period to tie the game heading into the third period.
Both teams had scoring opportunities in the third period but neither could capitalize and seize control before the end of regulation.
In overtime, B-BL’s Brayden Graning scored the game winning goal to give his team the championship.
Brayden Graning, Grayson Kipka, Jase Tobako and Rylan Tobako were named to the all-tournament team and Thomas Zerwas was named the tournament’s most outstanding goalie.
B-BL team members are William Johnson, Garrett Marotz, Rylan Tobako, Gunnar Hanson, Samuel Rusin, Grayson Kipka, Brayden Graning, Jase Tobako, Tyler Lillemo, Gavin Leitold, Nolan O’neal and Thomas Zerwas.
The B-BL Eagles are coached by Jason Tobako, Tony Graning, Jeremy Hanson and Brandon Leitold.
