The Becker Big Lake varsity hockey Eagles lost s close Two Rivers Conference home game to Mora-Hinckley-Finlayson Thursday, 2-3.
Mora scored the first goal on a power play with less than three minutes gone in the first period. Eagles senior Brandon Christianson tied the game at 14.10 with assists from Grant Vickerman and Jake Piehl.
The second period was scoreless as the teams battled it out on the ice. But Mora came out strong in the third period to move ahead when Eli Ness put the puck in the net in 34 seconds. Mora scored again at 8-44 in the period.
The Eagles battled back and Christianson scored again with assists from Vickerman and Nick Stalpes at 15.03 but time ran out on their comeback.
Goalie Justin Morrow stopped 34 shots on goal. The Eagles also spent 21 minutes in the penalty box on five infractions to Mora’s eight minutes for four infractions.
Tuesday the Eagles lost a non-conference match at home to St. Cloud Tech, 6-0. Tech scored twice in each period.
The Eagles take on the Little Falls Flyers in an away game Tuesday. Saturday. The Eagles go to Monticello to play the Magic at the Moose Sherrit Ice Arena at 3 p.m.
