Eagles lose 2

The Becker/Big Lake hockey team lost a pair of games this past week against Pine City and River Lakes.

Last Friday, the team hosted Pine City and lost 8-1. The Dragons were able to score three goals on four powerplay opportunities, while the Eagles were scoreless in their four chances. Gavin Jacobson scored the lone goal off assists from Carter Tatge and Tate Spilde.

On Tuesday, the Eagles lost 7-4 on the road against River Lakes. Neither team could find the back of the net for the first 12 minutes, but then the Stars exploded for four goals over the next six minutes of game action.

The Eagles answered with two goals of their own from Gavin Leitold and Eddie Lane. But River Lakes tacked on one more before the end of the second period to take a 5-2 lead into the final 17 minutes.

In the third, Gunnar Hanson scored a powerplay goal less than 20 seconds into the period for Becker/Big Lake, and Ethan Grafnitz scored a few minutes later to bring the team within one. That was as close as the Eagles would get. The Stars scored again a few minutes later and added an empty-net goal later.

Raymond Clark and Gavin Jacobson each had an assist on the day. Owen Zahler added two of his own.
