The Eagles hockey team has barged right into their upgraded schedule this year, playing four opponents in the past week. They began their year with an 8-6 win over Moose Lake last Tuesday then followed Friday with a 4-2 loss to Winona last Friday.
Against Winona, the Eagles tied 1-1 after a period and trailed 2-1 after two. Winona scored two third period goals to win the game.
Scoring for B-BL in the first period were Barzee, assisted by Boe; and in the third period, Keo, assisted by Lindenau. Caden Weber stopped 16 Winona shots, while Eagle shooters pelted the Winona goalie for 54 shots.
Saturday, they engaged Dodge County and Tuesday were back on the ice against St. Francis. All games were at Princeton, their home arena.
This week, they are taking on Chisago Lakes and North Branch, then Thursday are at Monticello.
The team has upgraded its schedule this year to play teams from the Mississippi 8 Conference.
The Eagles are hoping to improve on their last year’s record of 11-13, reports Coach Zach Barzee. Jason Hartfield is assistant coach, while goalie coaches are Lindsey Hartfield and Greg Mullen.
The team has 32 players this year.
