The Becker/Big Lake hockey team lost two games this week to fall to 5-3-1.
Pine City 6, Becker-Big Lake 1
During the Pine City game, the Eagles hockey team just couldn’t stay out of the penalty box.
The boys accumulated a total of 37 minutes in the box.
Their goalie had 14 saves in the second period and 10 in the third period, but they were not able to do much overall.
Becker-Big Lake scored about 15 minutes into the second period (by Jacob Bahe #29), but that was their only goal since there seemed to always be a player in the penalty box—nine total penalties during the entire game.
Monticello 9, Becker-Big Lake 2
Last week, the Eagles played against Monticello and lost by seven.
Coach Hartfiel was a little disappointed in the team’s showing at Monticello since they gave up five goals in a timespan of about four minutes.
In the first period, the Eagles were penalized for having too many men on the ice and for tripping. Then, they become a little lax in their D-zone coverage and Monticello was able to score quickly.
However, the Eagles finished the rest of the game well, scoring one goal in the second period (by Trenton Rupar #37) and another in the third (by Jacob Bahe #29).
The Eagles also had 11 saves in the first period and eight in the second.
