Eagles End Season With Mixed Results

Dodge County 2, Eagles 3 F/OT
The Becker-Big Lake hockey team played their final home game of the season Feb 12, and would not be denied a positive ending to their home game season with a win over Dodge County in overtime, 3-2.
 
There would be only one goal in the first period, and it would come late from Dodge County. The Eagles would respond towards the end of the second period. Ryan Murnane (Weston Schugg, Nick Cencer assist) would tie the game at 1 at 11:10.
 
Murnane (Alec Doran, Cencer assist) would score again to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead early in period three, at 3:06. Eight minutes late, Dodge County would tie, leading to overtime.
 
At 7:47 in overtime Murnane (Schugg assist) Scored the winning goal for the Eagles, and conclude their home season with a victory. 
 
Eagles received two minor penalties in the first, with Dodge County receiving three penalties in the second and third, followed by another minor penalty against the Eagles. In overtime, a tripping penalty against Doran led to a penalty shot early, but was no good.
 
Goaltender Justin Morrow played the game's entire 58:47, and faced 49 shots, saving 47.
 
This win is the fourth, and last of the Eagles season.
 
Eagles, Fairmont
Becker-Big Lake finished their regular season with a 6-6 tie in Fairmont Feb 13.
 
Fairmont would score twice within the first two minutes of the game. The Eagles responded one minute later with a Nick Cencer goal. 
 
Seven minutes later into the first, Cencer scored again for the Eagles, tying the game at two. Fairmont would score again to take the lead at 13:57, but the Eagles tied the game again at 14:59 with a goal from Garrett Anderson (Cencer, Owen Houghton assist).
 
In the second, Fairmont would take the lead with a goal at 3:19, 4-3.
 
Corbin Kollar (Cencer assist) gave the Eagles a tying goal at 2:09 in the third. Murnane would score again for the Eagles at 12:05, giving the Eagles a 5-4 lead.
 
Fairmont tied at 15:41. Schugg (Cencer assist) would give the Eagles a 6-5 lead 35 seconds later. The Eagles lead would be short- lived, however, as Fairmont would tie again 26 seconds later in the 3rd, leading to a scoreless overtime, and the gamewas  called  official with a 6-6 tie. 
 
The game saw 15 penalties overall, 10 of which were against the Eagles. Morrow tended the goal all 59:00 saving 46 of 52 shots against him.
 
The Eagles' regular season concludes with a 4-18-2 record, which is a slight improvement over a 5-21 record the previous season.
 
Becker/Big Lake 2, North Branch 4
The Eagles travelled to Lindstrom Tuesday for what would be their only playoff appearance in Sections when the team lost 4-2. This game also marked the last for the team's senior players, Lyndon Carlson, Nick Cencer, Justin Morrow and Own Houghton.
 
North Branch would score once late in the first, then another early in the second before Kollar (Hartfiel assist) put the Eagles on the board later in the second period at 8:55. 
 
At 12:24 in the third period, North Branch would extend their lead 3-1. The Eagles would score one last time when Cencer (Murnane assist) scored his last goal as an Eagle at 13:30. North Branch would score one more time to make the final score 4-2. North Branch moved on to play Chisago Lakes Thursday while the Eagles season was concluded. 
 
It was also a low penalty game, with three minor penalties against Becker/ Big Lake and one minor penalty against North Branch.
 
Morrow played all 51:00, saving 30 of 34 shot attempts against him. 
 
"I just want to thank all the parents, coaches and teammates for everything," he said, "I had a ton of fun and will miss them all, and I wish them good luck in the years to come.”
