A second-half lockdown defensive effort propelled the Becker girls basketball team to a 89-37 win last Thursday over the Zimmerman Thunder.
After amassing a 49-25 halftime lead, Becker fans witnessed a stellar defensive effort in the second half, as the Bulldogs held the Thunder to just 12 points on four field goals and four free throws.
Five Bulldogs scored in double figures, including Adele Changamire, who led the attack with 26 points. Sister Andie Changamire added 15 points and 10 rebounds for a double-double performance, while Josie Reckelberg and Juliana Stach chipped in 13 points apiece. Lauren Croal added 11 points and dished out six assists in one of the senior’s better all-around games of the season.
The win pushed Becker to 12-9 on the season and extended the Bulldogs’ current winning streak to five games.
Vs. Tigers
Tuesday night, Becker hosted the 11-11 Princeton Tigers and came away with a 68-59 win to push the Bulldog win streak to six games.
The game was tied at 27 apiece at halftime, but the Bulldogs pulled away in the second half behind a monster 18 minutes of basketball from Andie Changamire, who scored 22 of her 35 points in the final stanza. The eighth grader went 12-of-13 from the free throw line in the game and also hit four three-pointers in the second half.
Tess Brown’s defense was also credited by the coaching staff as a key to the Bulldog win, while Josie Reckelberg scored 14 points in the game, seven coming in each half.
