Divers Bring Home 3 Medals

The Bulldogs Swim & Dive team competed in the True Team meet at Sauk Rapids-Rice High School Oct. 12, having a good day with many personal bests and a lot of time dropped.

The day started with diving and three Bulldog medal winners. Lauren Woelfel took 3rd place, beating her sister Sarah Woelfel, who took 4th place, by just over four points, and Keeley Holm took 8th place.

“Our divers continue to improve and will compete at the section meet in November,” said Coach Tina Timm.

That afternoon the swimmers had their turn, resulting in more section qualifiers and numerous personal best times.

Meghan Swanson qualified for the section meet in the 200 free after dropping just under three seconds off her time. Tia Shapp also qualified for the 200 free with her four second drop.

Annika Howe got a personal best time in the 200 IM, dropping four and a half seconds, along with Grace Wynia, who dropped just under one second and Lucy Pink, who dropped two and a half seconds in the same event.

The 100 butterfly produced two personal best times with Ryann Pitts and Howe each dropping one second. Rainna Friedman received a section time in the 100 free when she dropped one second.

Morgan Schrader was already qualified for sections in the 500 free but continues to drop time, improving at the True Team meet by 11 seconds.

Nadia Super also got a section spot in the 500 free with her six and a half second time drop. Natalie Yuker dropped six seconds in the 500 free, her personal best time.

The JV team competed at the Mississippi 8 JV championships meet Thursday, the last chance the team had to compete. The varsity team has two weeks to train for their upcoming section meet Nov. 7-9 at their home pool.
