THE DAZZLERS ARE CURRENTLY RANKED SECOND in their conference after their strong performance at the Albany varsity conference

Dazzlers Ranked Second In Conference After Recent Competition

After their strong performance at their first conference meet of the season, the Becker Bulldogs’ competitive dance team, the Dazzlers, have been ranked second in their conference.

At Albany Senior High School Dec. 20, the Dazzlers faced Albany, Foley, St. Cloud Cathedral and Zimmerman at the competitive dance varsity conference meet.
The Dazzlers placed second in varsity kick, varsity jazz and junior varsity jazz at the competition.

“Two judges placed us in first for kick and jazz so we’re hoping to make a big move next time,” said Coach Nadia Fischer-Danzeisen.

To get ready for their recent meet at Waconia, the Dazzlers had made several changes to their routines, including rearranging formations, redoing choreography and moving dancers around.

The team continued cleaning and perfecting parts of their routine to prepare for their first conference meet.

The solid performance at Albany placed the Dazzlers second  in their conference to date; the team has one more conference later in January. Their strengths continue to be difficulty, choreography and creativity.

Many of the athletes on the Dazzlers’ team were ill and stressed from school work leading up to the competition, so their coaches were especially excited about their winning performance.

“Coach Megan Timm and I were impressed with how many of them really pushed it,” said Danzeisen.

The Dazzlers continue making substantial improvements to their routines.

At their first competition at Eastview High School in Apple Valley Dec. 8, their jazz routine was 30 points (out of 500) behind St. Cloud Cathedral, one of their most powerful competitors. Last week their routine was only 15 points behind them.

“We’re looking forward to what 2019 brings us,” said Danzeisen.

The Dazzlers will be hitting it hard again after winter break, competing at the girls varsity invitational hosted by Alexandria Area High School Jan. 5.
