The Dazzlers dance team hosted the Granite Ridge dance team conference at the Becker High School Thursday, Dec. 21. Teams from Albany, Becker, Foley, St Cloud Cathedral and Zimmerman competed in this conference.
"Overall the Becker Dance Team had a great night, with all four teams placing," said Coach Baloun.
JV jazz, JV kick and Varsity kick all placed second behind St Cloud Cathedral and Varsity Jazz placed third behind Zimmerman in second, and St Cloud Cathedral in first.
"We don't get many opportunities to compete at home, so this was a lot of fun for us. The crowd was very supportive and all our teams performed well," said Coach Fischer Danzeisen.
"It takes a lot of volunteers to pull off an event like this. Our parents and family members really pulled together to keep things running smoothly. We couldn't have done it without them," added Baloun.
"While it was a lot of fun and we felt pretty succesful at our home Conference meet, we still have a lot of work to do for the second half of the season. Both Varsity Kick and Varsity Jazz saw their highest scores of the season on Thursday night, but they want to continue to build on that. All four teams will be working and practicing over break to clean routines as well as make changes that could increase scores at future competitions. Routines are always evolving over the course of the season, and this year is no different, “ said Baloun.
After winter break the Dazzlers will compete at the Alexandria Invitational Jan. 6 and the Rocori Invitational Jan. 13.
If you would like to see the Dazzlers perform their competition routines, there are two more opportunities to see them perform at home.
They will be performing at halftime during the Becker basketball games on Jan. 16 and Jan. 26.
