The Becker dance team stayed close to home this past weekend, traveling to Monticello for their Invitational. This was the last meet of the regular season and the last meet overall for the JV teams. The Monticello Invite hosted 14 teams from around the state, several teams that the Becker team had not yet seen this season. After a long day of competition, the Dazzlers found themselves with fifth place finishes in JV, fourth place in Varsity kick and third place in Varsity jazz.
The JV kick team performed well in their final performance, bringing lots of energy to the routine.
“This team has come a long way this season and improved so much! They really brought the routine to life today. I can't wait to see what they can accomplish in the future," said Coach Nadia Fischer-Danzeisen.
The JV jazz team competed their routine one last time as well.
"We really wanted to finish the season strong and they did that today. It is fun and rewarding to see the accomplishments over the course of a season. This team has made improvements in both their skill set and performance quality this year and I'm certain they will continue to do so in the future," said Coach Baloun.
Varsity kick performed their high energy routine and received their best scores of the season at this competition.
"There were less than 20 points separating first and fourth place, which is tight in dance team. We are looking very closely at scores as we head towards sections. There is still some fine tuning and cleaning to do before next weekend, but our scores have been improving over the last couple competitions and that is what we like to see right before Sections! The 4AA Section is a very tough Section, so we really want to be at our best!" said Baloun.
Varsity jazz also earned their best scores of the season at this competition and took home the third place trophy.
“We will be working really hard over the next week to perfect our routine and bring in even higher scores at sections. This team has done a great job tackling a difficult routine and they are really coming on strong at the end of the season. Our scores continue to improve with each performance and I am looking forward to next weekend!" said Coach.
Becker will compete at the 4AA Section meet at Alexandria High School Saturday.
This competition will include teams from Sartell, Rocori, St Cloud Cathedral, Pequot Lakes, Alexandria, Becker, Albany, Annandale, Monticello, Detroit Lakes, Foley, Willmar, St Cloud Apollo, and Melrose. The competition starts at 11am.
