The Becker Bulldogs’ competitive dance team, the Dazzlers, competed at Eastview High School in Apple Valley, their first competition of the season.
Competing against 14 other schools, many of them consistent top contenders, the team performed well.
“While we didn’t place where we wanted, the competition was a good experience for the type of pressure the big-name teams bring to the table when they compete,” said Coach Nadia Fischer-Danzeisen.
“A lot of our varsity kick team competed in varsity for the first time,” she continued. “Coach Megan and I thought they did a good job staying in the moment.”
Danzeisen was pleased to see difficulty, choreography and creativity rated as the team’s highest scores.
“That tells me if we can clean up our routines and execute when the time counts that we’ll be in good shape,” she said.
Junior varsity also performed well at the competition.
“For JV’s first competition they really wanted to go out there and have a clean and energetic routine,” said Danzeisen. “Which I thought they did well.”
“We’re looking at making small changes during practice so we can continue to raise our scores at Waconia.”
The Dazzlers’ next competitions are this Saturday, Dec. 15 at the girls varsity invitational at Waconia High School, and Thursday, Dec. 20 at the girls varsity conference meet at Albany Senior High School, competing against Albany, Foley, St. Cloud Cathedral and Zimmerman.
