Dancers Celebrate End Of Successful Season

The Becker Bulldogs dance team celebrated their spectacular season along with a number of their athletes recently.

“We celebrated a great season and six amazing [senior] dancers,” said Head Coach Nadia Fischer-Danzeisen. “Four of them started in seventh grade and completed all six years on the team.”

This year’s seniors were Heaven Bray, Taylor Larson, Autumn Martin, Cienna Pleoger, Madison Pleoger, and Isabelle Swanson. Pleoger is the first athlete in the history of Becker Dance to letter all six years.

The seniors were gifted with alumni sweatshirts from their coaches.

Some of the athletes honored at the banquet included senior captain Cienna Pleoger, who was awarded MVP, senior captain Autumn Martin, who was awarded Most Dedicated, senior captain Madison Pleoger, who was awarded Hardest Worker, eighth grader Wren Williams, who was awarded Rookie of the Year, and freshman Amanda Krenz, who was awarded Clutch Dancer of the Year (dancer who did great when she stepped in last minute for another teammate).

Tryouts for next year’s dance team have concluded and the new team was announced Monday.

“We do tryouts in the spring so we can train in the summer and do special events like Freedom Days as a team,” said Danzeisen, who was nominated for AA Head Coach of the Year for the fifth year in a row since she started co-head coaching.

Each year dance coaches nominate athletes on their team for All-State; a panel of judges review videos of the nominees to determine which ones have what it takes. This year, three of the four Becker Bulldogs dance team’s nominated dancers were chosen; eighth graders Hannah Oakes and Ashley Matvick, and junior captain Paige Mohs.
