The Big Lake Dance Team received their highest scores and placements at sections in over a decade this past week. After moving up two placements from last year, they are excited to see the growth and improvement of their team.

Thirteen teams competed at the Section 2AA Tournament February 27 at Chisago Lakes High School. Big Lake finished seventh in jazz and eighth in kick.

The Hornets find themselves excited for next season as they continue to become more competitive. With only one senior on this year’s team, 17 of the 18 dancers are eligible to return next year and are eager to pick up right where they left off. They will be led by head coach Kayla Kleinsteuber, assistant coach Mel VanHofwegen, and captains Sydney Marotz, Madison Klatt, and Kylie Veldhuizen.

In the Mississippi 8 Conference, Big Lake finished fourth overall which was also an improvement of two placements from last year.

All Conference Award winners for the 2020-2021 season are Madison Klatt and Jessica Sandberg. All Conference Honorable Mention are Sydney Marotz and Rowan Payne. Madison Klatt and Kylie Veldhuizen were selected to represent the BLDT for the AA All State Jazz Team.
